Shrewbury Open Studios, Showing Off and a Royal Agricultural Show

Hello and welcome,

I’ve just spent a lovley week in Montenegro, a real gem on the Adriatic Coast; check it out if you don’t already know it, well worth a visit.

June is a busy month this year and I’ll be ‘popping-up’ in Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Malvern before the month is out.

No workshops planned for June now, however give me a call if you would like to book and we’ll most likely be able to arrange it.

Shrewsbury Open Studios is this weekend, 3rd & 4th and again the following weekend, 10th & 11th.  Leaflet/trail maps are now available all over the town, or you can download and print your own from here.

I’m ‘opening’ at The VAN Gallery, 18/19 Shoplatch, Shrewsbury (under the Market Hall) during SYOS and on Sunday 4th and Saturday 10th I’ll be there in person, so drop in for a chat and ‘meet the maker’.

Sunday the 11th June is the first of the biannual ‘Showing Off’ craft exhibition and sale for Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft, in its now regular venue The Ludlow Brewing Company, SY82PQ.  Entry is free and there is some outstanding craftsmanship to be seen as well as great beer and light refreshments. Checkout our facebook page for news of the Guild members exhibiting.

And I’m back at Malvern for the Three Counties Show, 16th – 18th June.

So, I hope to see you and even if I don’t, enjoy ‘flaming’ June and the super long evenings before the nights start drawing in again.

See you soon.jill

St George and Shakespeare

Hi there,

It’s a ‘behind the scenes’ month for me as I’ll be tucked away in my studio as much as I can, creating new, fabulously functional glass for the RHS Malvern Spring Festival. I’ve lots of ideas – so ‘watch this space’ as they say – I will too as I never quite know what I will create or indeed whether it will work out as I envisage or not!

I think some floral design has to be on the cards don’t you? And I have some ‘variations on a theme’ already in planning phase.

With April 23rd being St George’s Day and Shakespeare’s birth (probably) and death, I’d like to work St George and Shakespeare into glass but so far haven’t come up with a plan I like.
The date is imprinted on my mind having grown up in Stratford – upon – Avon, where Will is much more than just a National treasure. We had a larger than life Literature teacher, who used to call him Bill Wobbleweapon; how can you forget that!

I have a ‘Further Fusing‘ workshop on 22nd, for those of you who already know the basics.  It’s a full day to further skills and work larger!  As always, though, if this or any other date does not fit with your plans, contact me and we’ll see if we can set up a new date; I’m your flexible fusing friend 😉

That’s all for now.jill

New Further Fusing Workshops

Hi there,

I’m delighted to announce a new workshop aimed at those of you who are not complete beginners. Further Fusing!
Designed to allow you to develop, and discover new techniques, your workshop will be tailored to your requirements.  And I can do this because my class sizes are small – maximum 3 people in this one.

I will be letting you loose on larger pieces of precious sheet glass so you must be able to cut with confidence.  As always everything you need is included. Find out more and dates available.

Dates for beginners Fusing Tasters and Full Day Workshops are also now available for Spring Summer 2017

This Saturday – 4th March – I am stewarding (that is, looking after the shop!) for the Atmospheric Aesthetics Exhibition at The Trumpet Corner Tearooms, the gallery is open 10am to 4pm, while the tearooms open 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Apart from a selection of glass, you can see stunning fine art photography by Caz Holbrook and gorgeous, unusual jewellery by Mizuki Takahashi.
Do pop in.  Trumpet serves home cooked food to die for.

And don’t forget its Mother’s Day soon!
