Fabulous ‘pop-up’ Fused Glass workshops with Jill Bagnall of Fusing Ideas Glass.
Approximately 3 ½ hours plus a one hour break for lunch (lunch is not included).

Make a gorgeous freestanding serpentine wave (38cms wide by 15cms tall) OR a simply elegant freestanding curve (22cms wide by 20cms tall) approx. finished sizes.

Join me for a 3½ hour glass fusing workshop (plus an hour break for lunch) to create beautiful & unique free-standing contemporary fused glass.
The venue is a ‘pop-up’ studio in The Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury with parking and facilities all nearby.

Suitable for adults, minimum age 16.
Accompanied children over 12.

Choose between the following options:-

A simple curved piece; finished size approximately 20cms tall by 22cms wide by 10cms deep.
These are perfect back lit, either with natural light (window ledge) or with a simple light or a candle.

For safety we always suggest battery operated candles.

Green curved glass Fusing Ideas workshops


An elegant serpentine wave, finished size approximately 15cms tall by 38cms wide by 5cms deep.
These are wider and lower and look great displayed on any shelf or console.
Also perfect when backlit by natural light.

Suitable for complete beginners, I will teach you how and supply everything you need;
no previous experience is necessary.

Price of £75 per person includes all materials, use of equipment and kiln firings.

Booking essential, to secure your place, only 6 individual places available (each day) to allow social distancing.

The workshop is approximately 3½ hours, plus an hour break for lunch (lunch not included) so please allow around 4½ hours in total.

  • Start time 10:30 am.
  • Break for lunch around 12:30 for one hour.
  • Resume at 13:30 (1:30pm).
  • Finish around 15:00 (3:00pm).

First, we run through safety and the basics of glass fusing before moving onto the fun bit; I will teach you how to handle & cut glass safely & explain some design options.

Using clear and coloured glass you will then be completely free to create your own unique design, with my guidance as you need it.
It could be abstract, seasonal, pictorial or created to co-ordinate in your home, or it could be a gorgeous gift for someone special.

There are no facilities at the pop-up, however, coffee etc can be bought nearby & toilets are on the middle level of The Darwin.

Fusing ideas Glass workshops

Please Note:
After you’ve gone, your fabulous work will be first fused and then ‘slumped’ (shaped) back at my studio. It may take a couple of weeks before your glass is ready.
I will arrange a central Shrewsbury collection point (or you can collect from me if more convenient). 
Alternatively, it can be posted out to you for a flat fee of £12, via DPD.

What to Wear Etc

  • Wear closed shoes – no sandals or open toes!
  • Wear comfortable clothing; trousers/jeans (no turn-ups) and preferably not tucked into boots.
  • All materials and equipment, including safety equipment, will be supplied.
  • Minimum age unaccompanied is 16.  Minimum age accompanied is 12.
  • A steady hand is required, however, contact me before you book if you think this may be a problem for you.
  • Keep your workspace and the ‘studio’ tidy; for safety & comfort of all participants.
Covid-19 teaching at Fusing Ideas Glass


  • I will teach wearing a face shield, all equipment will be wiped down. Safety goggles (supplied) are washed and sanitised before use.
  • For everyone’s protection, please wear a face mask when you come.
  • Observe other rules as explained on the day.

Please also adhere to any ‘Shopping Centre’ guidelines.

Please note our Cancellation Policy

A small administration fee, 5%, applies to all cancellations, this is included below:

Cancellations up to 4 weeks before the course 95% refund.
Cancellations up to 1 week before the course 55% refund.
Cancellations within the last week, no refund.

It may be possible to re-arrange your booking – at no extra charge – so always talk to us first!

If your course is cancelled by us due to unforeseen circumstances you will be offered an alternative date, or a full, 100%, refund.

If the workshop has to be cancelled due to Covid-19, you will receive a 100% refund.

General T&Cs

Glass can be dangerous!

Whilst Fusing Ideas Glass is insured for Public Liability and makes every effort to provide a safe environment, this agreement is a standard condition of working in the studio.


Acknowledge that there are dangers inherent in working with glass and with the tools required and that working or participating in learning with Fusing Ideas Glass involves risks that may cause personal injury.

Undertake to comply with all instructions and advice from Fusing Ideas Glass while working with glass.

Assume full responsibility for the risk of personal injury, death and property damage (other than that caused by the negligence of Fusing Ideas Glass) inherent in the use of equipment, tools and materials provided by Fusing Ideas Glass.

When you arrive, you will be asked to sign a general disclaimer according to the above.
