Glass  Fusing Taster (half day)
Skill level: Beginners

Creating with glass is not nearly as scary as it sounds, come and try it out for yourself.
This 3 hour workshop is designed as a gentle introduction for complete beginners.

We supply absolutely everything you will need (equipment & materials) to make your own beautiful fused glass; just bring yourself (in comfy shoes!).

Workshops all take place at our small, well equipped studio in Worthen, Shropshire SY5 9HN, google maps Fusing Ideas Glass
Class sizes are small usually 3 or 4, which means a good student to teacher ratio.
We have run workshops for up to 5 friends! Contact me if you are a coloured glass pictures being madegroup.

Workshop structure:

♦ Safety in the glass studio – it’s all common sense really!
◊ What is glass fusing? And other terms we use.
♦ Introduction to art glass; types & compatibility and the tools you will use.
◊ Learn to cut and handle glass with confidence – yes you can!
♦ Various design techniques

You will create up to 4 small pieces, coaster or tile sized (10cm square), two of which can be slumped into little (trinket) dishes if you wish.

These could be 4 the same, 2 pairs or all different. It’s your choice!

We do encourage you to try out different techniques as we guide you through creating your own designs – abstract or pictorial – working with coloured glass sheet, frits & stringers and/or powders – see where your creativity takes you.

glass in kiln

Before fusing

You create and place your projects in the kiln ready for firing, we do the rest.

Firing; fusing & slumping, are overnight processes and will take place during the following 2 weeks. Your gorgeous glass can be collected after that.  If you can’t collect we can post out. Cost depends on size & weight.

Unleash your inner creative, learn a little, have fun and, above all, enjoy yourself!
