Glass workshops especially for the kids with Fusing Ideas Glass this October half term. Workshops take place at a ‘pop-up’ studio in The Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury with parking and facilities all nearby.

Choice of days and start times:
Wednesday 28th or Friday 30th October, starting at 10:30am, 12:00, 2:00pm or 3:30pm.
Please allow one hour for your child to complete their glass picture – some are much quicker. You can buy a second tile on the day if you wish.
Picture tiles are taken back to my studio for firing so will not be ready to take away on the day.

Children will make a 10cm sq picture tile, which will have a small hanging loop attached.
I supply lots of lovely coloured glass shapes to spark their imagination and create patterns or pictures.

And they can make any picture they want, from the ghoulish, the gruesome and the ghostly (well it is Halloween) to the family pet, dinosaurs and flowers or lovely rainbows and colourful abstracts using the shapes & colours of the glass.

All glass is pre-fired to ensure their are no sharp edges.

Suitable for children, minimum age 7 – however, I have done these workshops with reception level children so contact me to ask.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Younger children will need help.
  • I hold a current DBS Certificate.

Price of £11.50 per picture tile which includes all materials, use of equipment and kiln firing.
A second tile is available at £10.00 on the day – or if accompanying adults can’t resist the chance to play too!

Booking essential, to secure your place, only 6 individual places (with adult) available (at each workshop) to allow social distancing.
If you have more than one child wishing to attend a workshop, please contact me.

All children are naturally creative (in fact we all are given time to ‘play’) and pictures can be anything from abstract to pictorial – in fact anything goes.

They can bring any ideas or pictures to help and I will have paper and pencils for them to draw first if they wish.

Please allow approximately one hour, however some children finish much quicker than this. A few take slightly longer.

Workshop start times (Wednesday 28th  and Friday30th):

  1. 10:30am.
  2. 12:00am.
  3. 2:00pm.
  4. 3:30pm.

I start with a brief word on safety. And each child (or adult) will be asked to make a name & address label so that I can keep track of all the lovely pictures.

Then the children will be free to play, with your help if they want – and create their unique pictures. I will give guidance as needed.

Please Note:
Children cannot take their tiles away on the day – they must be fired in my kiln.
It may take a couple of weeks before they are all ready to be returned.
I will arrange a central Shrewsbury collection point (or you can collect from me if more convenient).
Alternatively, they can be posted out to you for a flat fee of £2.50 per picture tile, Royal Mail 2nd Class. Pay on the day if you want this option.

There are no facilities at the workshop, however, juices and drinks etc can be bought nearby & toilets are on the middle level of The Darwin.
